We added to the fleet

We bought a new Mazda CX-50 Meridian.

So far, it’s fantastic. Admittedly, we’ve had it for about a month, but it’s been great the entire time. We’ve put around a thousand miles on it already, averaging 31mpg, which I imagine will go up once the new wears off and we stop lead footing it everywhere. The turbo 2.5 has excellent power, and it is typically Mazda in the suspension and drive tuning, which is to say it is biased toward the sport side of things. Very comfortable, but sporty. I don’t think I’ve ever switched into actual “sport” mode since we’ve had it. I’ve simply not felt the need.

I’ve ordered the factory hitch and tow package that I’m installing today. The factory kit allows the ECU to switch into Tow/Haul mode, which adjusts the rear camera and Turbo and trans tuning a little, which is desirable on any turbo car when pulling a load. I have also ordered the Weathertech floor mat system. I looked at the Mazda factory set and a few others, which were all nice. I’m just comfortable with Weathertech after having them on the Buick and my Landcruiser.

Honestly, the car doesn’t need much else. When the time comes to replace the tires, hopefully, a few years down the road, I may do a wheel upgrade at the same time, just to give it some personality. Lets be honest, I may do that sooner. I am who I am.

I like the Enkei Adventurer in bronze. It’s a good-looking wheel that adds a nice custom touch to the car. We’ll see.
