Since there are no Peet’s locations I am aware of anywhere in Texas, I rarely encountered it when shopping. I often saw the bags of grounds on the pedestrian coffee aisle, and walked right past it. That simple fact kinda turned me off to it back in the day, and I never bought any.
Now my favorite roastery here in town is Andersen’s Coffee, over on 38th and Kerby Lane. Over time I learned that “Mr Andersen” learned his trade from “Mr Peet” (those are indeed both real people). I was of course intrigued. How could a coffee so closely related to one I DIDNT like, become my go to beans?
