**Why Start a Blog in Today’s World?**

I have hosted a blog or journal in some form for over twenty years. I want to share my thoughts, plans, projects, and results. I use this as a sounding board. I don’t go out of my way to generate traffic or anything like that. A blog provides the space I need, free from the limitations of platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

I recently decided to move away from relying on commercial social media and make this my primary online presence. While my social media accounts will still exist, you’ll find more in-depth content here.

I plan to kill my Twitter account and tentatively transition to Blue Sky for various reasons. Instagram is only slightly better, but you can still find a link to it below. In the long run, I’ll keep some social media accounts for professional purposes. Most of my online activity will focus here.

About Me-

The guy that runs this thing...
The guy that runs this thing…

I spent thirty years, my entire adult life, in the Army. In 2023, I decided that was enough, and it was time to start again. I’m lucky to enter this second life with a somewhat intact mind and body.

I would describe myself as a domesticated, once-wild, free-range man. I am a career soldier, a father of four, and a husband to one. I read and write, and I’m a terminal tinkerer who struggles to leave things alone even when I probably should. I’m way too deep into bicycles and motorcycles, and I fool around with vintage camping gear and my Landcruiser. There are many other smaller interests that I’ll let you discover on your own. I’m a geek at heart and have a passion for sci-fi, technology, and industry—and I see nothing wrong with that! 🙂

About the Site-

I have been a WordPress user since its release in 2003. I used to fool around with self-hosting on a LAMP server in my home study. These days, I find it’s easier to host it at WordPress.com.

If you’ve read this far, I’m impressed. Today’s short attention span theater population generally never does. Thanks for the time, and feel free to look around. There are contact links at the bottom of each page. You can send me an email or other message if you want to know more.
